Jaipur, formerly Jeypore, is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan. As of 2011, the city had a population of 3.1 million, is making it the one of the most populous city in the country. Jaipur is also known as the Pink City, due to the dominant color scheme of its buildings. It is also known as the Paris of India, and also called as the Island of Glory.

Samode Palace, Samode Haveli and Samode Bagh (Garden) are heritage monuments and structures built by the noble feudatory. Recently, Rajasthan Government has started night tourism at Amber Fort. You can visit the fort between 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM and experience the beauty of the fort in colourful lights.Raja Kakil Dev ruled over the Amber in 1036 on the site which is currently covered by Jaigarh Fort. Later, it was ruled by Rajput Kings Raja Man Singh I, Raja Jai Singh and his descendants. Amber Fort was built by Maharaja of Parmar Rajputs, appreciated by Raja Man Singh I. Amber was ruled from 1590 to 1614 AD by Mughal Emperor Akbar’s Navaratnas Raja Man Singh I, which included the built palace.

4. CITY PALACE

The City Palace in Jaipur, Rajasthan, used to serve as both the rulers of the Jaipur State’s official residence and administrative center. Soon after Jaipur was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who relocated his court from Amber to Jaipur, construction got underway. Up until 1949, Jaipur served as the capital of the monarchy. After that, it became the capital of the modern Indian state of Rajasthan, with the City Palace serving as the Maharaja of Jaipur’s official and ceremonial residence.

After its construction was finished in 1732, the Palace served as a venue for religious and cultural gatherings and as a patron of the arts, business, and industry. It was built with aspects of Rajput and Mughal architecture while adhering to vastushastra regulations. The Jaipur royal family still resides there, and it presently serves as the home of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum. The personal staff of the royal family numbers about 500. The palace complex includes a number of structures, as well as galleries, restaurants, courtyards, and Museum Trust offices. The chairman of the MSMS II Museum Trust is Rajamata Padmini Devi, a Jaipur native who is originally from Sirmour in Himachal Pradesh. As its secretary and trustee, Princess Diya Kumari is in charge of the Museum Trust. In Jaipur, she is also in charge of The Palace School and Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh School.

6. HAWA MAHAL

In the Indian state of Rajasthan, the city of Jaipur is home to the Hawa Mahal. Constructed from red and pink sandstone, it stretches to the women’s rooms, or Zenana, on the periphery of Jaipur’s City Palace.

Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, the man who founded the city of Jhunjhunu in the state of Rajasthan, constructed the building in 1799. He was so moved by Khetri Mahal’s distinctive design that he constructed this opulent, old palace.

The designer of it was Lal Chand Ustad. Its five-story facade, with its 953 Jharokhas, or small windows, adorned with elaborate latticework, resembles a honeycomb. Originally, the lattice design was intended to conceal royal ladies from view while they observed daily activities and festivities held in the street below. In addition to allowing cool air from the Venturi effect to flow through, this architectural feature also helped to moderate the high summer temperatures in the area. When viewed from the street, the Hawa Mahal appears to be the front of the palace, but in reality, it is the back.

After a fifty-year hiatus, restoration work on the Mahal was started in 2006 at an estimated cost of Rs 4.568 million. The Unit Trust of India has taken on the maintenance of Hawa Mahal, while the corporate sector has contributed to the preservation of Jaipur’s historical landmarks. The palace is a portion of a much larger complex. This well-liked tourist destination has several unique features, like arched roofs, tiny casements, and stone-carved screens. The monument also features hanging cornices that are expertly modeled.

7. ALBERT HALL MUSEUM

As the state museum of Rajasthan, India, the Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur is the oldest institution in the state. The structure, a magnificent example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, is located in the Ram Niwas Garden, outside the city wall, across from the New Gate. It goes under the name Government Central Museum as well. Because of the diversity of its holdings, it was regarded as one of the greatest museums of the 19th century. After renovations in 2008, it reopened as one of India’s most cutting-edge museums.

8. NAHARGARH FORT

Perched atop the Aravalli Hills, Nahargarh Fort commands a commanding view of Jaipur and the surrounding Indian state of Rajasthan. Nahargarh Fort, Amer Fort, and Jaigarh Fort formerly comprised a formidable defense ring around the city. The fort was formerly known as Sudershangarh, but Nahargarh—which translates to “abode of tigers”—became its new name. It is commonly believed that the name Nahar refers to Nahar Singh Bhomia, whose ghost haunted the area and hindered the building of the fort. By erecting a temple inside the fort in his honor, Nahar’s spirit was appeased, and the structure came to bear his name.

Jaipur has a warm climate but October to March can be described as the best time to visit the pink city.
